Angelina Jolie Voight was born on June 4, 1975, in Los Angeles to famous actors Jon Voight and Marcheline Bertrand. She began her career in the 1980s, making her screen debut alongside her father in Lookin' to Get Out (1982). Her major breakthrough came in the late 90s with starring roles in the television biopics George Wallace (1997) and Gia (1998), earning her two consecutive Golden Globe Awards.
In 2000, Jolie won an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress for her role in Girl, Interrupted. She achieved global fame and superstar status for her portrayal of video game heroine Lara Croft in 2001. She later solidified her career with blockbusters like Mr. & Mrs. Smith (2005), Wanted (2008), and Salt (2010). Jolie received another Academy Award nomination for her leading role in Clint Eastwood's 2008 drama, Changeling.
