Biography (EN)
Nicole Mary Kidman was born on June 20, 1967, in Honolulu, Hawaii, but was raised in Sydney, Australia. She began ballet and acting lessons as a child, making her professional debut at the age of 16. She gained international attention after the thriller Dead Calm (1989), which became her ticket to Hollywood.
Throughout the 90s, Kidman remained in the spotlight not only for her roles but also for her high-profile marriage to Tom Cruise, with whom she starred in three films, including Stanley Kubrick's final masterpiece Eyes Wide Shut. Her true acting range was fully recognized in the early 2000s: for her portrayal of Virginia Woolf in The Hours (2002), she won the Academy Award, becoming the first Australian to win Best Actress.
Kidman is known for her fearless role choices, often collaborating with arthouse directors (Lars von Trier, Yorgos Lanthimos). Recent years have seen a "second wind" in her career thanks to her television success with Big Little Lies, where she served as both star and producer through her company, Blossom Films.
