Йосип Віссаріонович Сталін (справжнє прізвище Джугашвілі) народився в Горі, Тифліська губернія, Російська імперія – радянський політичний, державний, військовий та партійний діяч, російський революціонер. Фактичний керівник СРСР. Генеральний секретар ЦК КПРС (1922–1953). Маршал Радянського Союзу (1943), Генералісимус Радянського Союзу (1945). Народний комісар оборони СРСР (з 19 липня 1941 року), Голова Раднаркому СРСР та Голова Державного комітету оборони СРСР. Обіймав також посади: З 3 квітня 1922 по 10 лютого 1934 року – генерального секретаря, потім – секретаря ЦК ВКП(б) (з 1952 року – КПРС), з 19 грудня 1930 року, після обіймання посади В'ячеславом Молотовим голови Ради народних комісарів СРСР замість Олексія Рикова. 1912 року на пропозицію В.І. Леніна був включений до ЦК РСДРП. Тоді ж Йосип Джугашвілі остаточно обрав собі псевдонім Сталін. Під час Жовтневої революції, Другим Всеросійським з'їздом було обрано членом ВЦВК та РНК. У 1922 році на Пленумі ЦК РКП(б) був обраний членом Оргбюро та Політбюро ЦК РКП(б), а також Генеральним секретарем ЦК РКП(б) (під час перебування Леніна на посаді Голови РНК СРСР). У 1930 році, після ослаблення та смерті Леніна, Сталін остаточно вийшов переможцем із внутрішньопартійної боротьби, ставши керівником держави. Сталін був фактичним засновником тоталітарної диктатури СРСР. У 1928-1929 роках був ініціатором переходу з курсу нової економічної політики (НЕПу) на курс індустріалізації, колективізації та побудови планової економіки, активізував політику культурної революції в СРСР.
