Harrison Ford was born on July 13, 1942, in Chicago, Illinois, USA. After attending Ripon College, he began taking small acting parts in films and television and at one point worked as a carpenter while trying to establish himself in Hollywood. His early breakthrough came with American Graffiti (1973), followed by roles in The Conversation (1974) and Apocalypse Now (1979).
Ford became an international star thanks to his portrayals of Han Solo in the Star Wars franchise and Indiana Jones in the Indiana Jones films. He later strengthened his status with performances in Blade Runner, Witness, The Fugitive, Air Force One, The Age of Adaline, 1923, and Shrinking. His role in Witness earned him his only Academy Award nomination for Best Actor.
